Is Detailing worth the price?

Why are detailers so expensive? Have you ever wondered this? Many people tend to ask that question. With the rise of $3-$5 car washes, it would only make sense to think this way, right? I mean, detailers can get expensive. What really does detailing involve? Why does it cost so much?

Auto detailing is defined as "an extremely thorough cleaning, polishing and waxing of an automobile, both inside and out, to produce a show-quality level of detail. Besides improving appearance, detailing helps to preserve resale value of a car." Really detailing does more than keep your car looking gorgeous, but it maintains it. Cars that lack that deep clean are more prone to having other issues with their paint and other cosmetic problems. But besides that, you will get more for your money when you try and resell it!

I have to admit, before we took detailing under our belt, I loved the $3 car washes! They were great, they washed the car and I was out in under 5 minutes. It left my car looking decent though, not amazing. My tires were still pretty dirty, my windows were not extremely clean, and there were still stains in the car and I had to vacuum it. For $3 though, that's what you get. We all would agree that if we want quality, it does not come cheap.

Why? Detailers mean business when they clean. They want you to feel like a million dollars when you get your car back. Think about what they have to work with. They get very different types of clients. Sometimes they get the business man who is getting his routine wash and wax, or even the soccer mom who has lots of activity in the car. So what brings gratification to these detailers?

They want you to look for stains in spots that you could not clean yourself, and see they're gone. They want you to inspect your tires and see your self in the reflection because they're so shiny. They want you to notice there is no dust anywhere.  However, they go beyond that. They clean little things that don't matter to most. They clean your vents, they clean your handles, they make sure the windows are in tip top shape. However, besides these things, detailers pay attention to other details. What does this include? They take care of scratches and make sure their buffed. Some times they even repair tires, which may not seem like they need changing.

Sounds like hard work right? It is, but they are satisfied when you are. Too, its a matter of convenience you pay for. Anyone can go and try to wash their cars themselves, but sometimes it may just be easier and less laborious to have someone else do it and right. It can take a team to do a complete detail in about 2 hours, it may take someone who is not trained to just a wax job in 2 hours. And if they come to you, you won't have to wait in a shop until its finished. You are either in the comfort of your home or even at your place of employment.

So think about it. You can go to the carwash and get it cleaned and it may not be that expensive. However, the clean will not last as long. Yet, if you get a detailer, all the spots you hate looking at, the ones that nag you while you drive, will no longer be there. Also, the clean will last longer. It might just be worth it to pay a little extra some times.

Take pride in your ride!

Cars. They take us everywhere. They take us to work, to the grocery store, to visit family and many other places. So would it be bad to pay it some attention sometimes? It works really hard for us, even going as far as drawing attention for us. So why not?

Most people know that it is vital to have the oil changed regularly in their car. But why?  Its said that a car should typically get an oil change every 3 months or every 3,000 miles, however if your car takes higher quality oil, than it can go for longer. What happens if we do not get an oil change regularly? Simply put, it can really damage the engine. Just like water and food sustain humans, good oil sustains your car's engine and allows it to perform better.

That is just one of the many essential parts of the car that needs tender loving care. There is definitely more. Some other key pieces that will prolong your life and your car's life would be having sturdy brakes and wipers. These are self explanatory. Make sure they're always in the best condition, if not it could be detrimental! Its obvious that there are other necessary components in a car and we could be here for quite a long time discussing the importance of maintaing those parts. Ultimately, a priority should always be to make sure its in the best running condition.

What about the parts of the car that meet the eye? The exterior; which include paint, rims, tires and windows. Or even perhaps the interior parts? Maybe the leather/fabric seats, carpets, steering wheel, cup holders and more. Is it really necessary to pay attention to the exterior and interior? Indeed it is. Cars tell a story about their owner. How so? Most would say that they thoroughly enjoy clean environments. If a person had to get a ride from someone who had a disgustingly dirty car, which possessed food wrappers everywhere, perhaps even old food, empty bottles and other pieces of trash, it is possible they would refuse the ride and look for another means. Have you ever heard of a dirty car getting compliments or praises for how gross it is? Very rarely, if ever. A clean car would receive compliments not only on how nice it is but how refreshing it smells and its cleanliness.

Having a car that looks, smells and works well, definitely can lift up a person's spirits and give them an ego boost. And yet, why do people let such things go? Easy. They don't have the time. Cars, are one of the most important investments a person can have. Why not take pride in your ride? Or take care of it? If taken care of, it will be there when we need it.

Why pressure wash?

A lot of people wonder why is pressure washing even necessary? Well for starters it protects an investment. We can all agree that its really nice to see something go from black or green to bright and beautiful. If its our home, it gives us confidence and we enjoy our place of residence. It goes even further than that though.

Mold and dirt have some disgusting reputations. They cause illnesses and are nasty to look at. Did you know that black mold is not only gross but is toxic? It can cause skin problems, tiredness, and even issues to your immune system. Why chance having these issues? It's said that having a clean home makes a happy home. How true this is. So why not pressure wash?

Yet, theres more to pressure washing then meets the eye. It takes time and energy. Some times those are two things many people do not possess. Let's face it though, how do those professionals get driveways clean with out streaks? It takes a lot of patience and practice. Unfortunately, many people try to do it themselves and the home owner's association still is not happy with their residence. So why bother with the hassel? Call a professional right away.

Why? They know how to avoid damaging your property, just incase you don't and they have the time to do it; it's their business. It cost less anyway. There's no need to worry about when the pressure washing is going to get done, where you're going to get a pressure washer, how you're going to fix damage (if there is any), or if its up the standards of the home owner's association.

All in all, there is a lot required for pressure washing. Just thinking about it can be a headache. So it may just be better to leave it up to someone who likes doing it and has it down to the science.

Green Cleaning, is it worth it?

We can all agree that cleaning is pretty crucial. It's fundamental to our health, for preserving investments and most importantly it can bring us joy when we see a nice finished product. However, theres a huge rave right now about Green Cleaning. Some wonder what it is and whether its important enough to make the "lifestyle" change.

For starters, Green Cleaning, is the use of products or cleaning methods that are not harmful to the environment.  Unfortunately many of the cleaning agents that are used in households today can have very harmful and toxic additives. Making them very dangerous to the Earth and human health. So which are the ingredients that are toxic to human health you're probably wondering? You may or may not be surprised to know that some of the typical household cleaning products like bleach and ammonia are among the toxic killers. Ammonia can do more harm besides making you sick by the smell. It can apparently cause irritation to both eyes and mucous membranes, and prolonged use can even cause blindness. The use of Bleach in toilet cleaners can also create toxic chlorine gas and other gases. Just with these two cleaners, that many households use, it proves that even though they make things look good and probably smell better, they are slowly killing us. The next question is what are some examples of Green cleaners and are they economical?

Today, with the turn of the economy, some of the first questions we all ask ourselves is can we really afford to make a lifestyle change? Many are in shock to realize that green cleaning stems from natural cleaning agents right in your own home. Vinegar, water, Borax, Washing Soda are just to name a few. What's great about these if you don't have them they are very inexpensive! However, it'll only take a little more effort to make products as opposed to buying green products that are already prepackaged and made. However, there's no harm in making things for money's sake and health right? But say you don't feel up to making it, are all the products that are green clean labeled actually green clean? Take a look at this infographic for things that are necessary on cleaner labels.

So really the question is, is Green cleaning really worth it?
